There’s something magical about a fresh calendar, especially for a home bakery. January always feels like a quiet inhale before the celebrations begin again. The ovens get a short break, the mixers hum a little less, and I finally have time to reflect on the year behind us and the delicious goals ahead.
So, in the spirit of a new year (and a new batch of birthday cakes!), I wanted to share some of the resolutions I’m making for Happy Hippo Bakery in 2026. Nothing too rigid or intimidating, just meaningful intentions that help guide the way I bake, create, and show up for this community I love so much.
Whether you’re a fellow home baker, someone who wants to bake more from scratch this year, or just a dessert-lover curious about what’s coming next in Hutto… welcome. Let’s dive in.
1. Bring More Joy to the Hutto Community
One of my biggest goals for 2026 is to become even more of a familiar face in Hutto. I want Happy Hippo Bakery to feel like one of those dependable little local spots you can always count on for birthdays, holidays, teacher gifts, or for those “just because” treats that make a Tuesday feel special.
This year, I plan to lean into more community partnerships, more local collaborations, and more ways to support the people and small businesses that make Hutto feel like home.
If you’re a local business owner and want to brainstorm something fun together, let’s chat!
2. Create More Seasonal Traditions
I’ve learned that people remember the little rituals: the boxes they order every fall, the pie they pick up every Thanksgiving, the Valentine’s collab they can’t wait to snag again.
So in 2026, you’ll see more of those signature seasonal offerings that make each month feel special:
- Teacher Appreciation boxes
- Mother’s Day cupcakes & bouquets
- Graduation treats
- Fall flavor boxes
- Thanksgiving pies
- A brand-new December product I’m already dreaming up 🎄
My goal is to make these feel like traditions you look forward to every year.
3. Keep Growing as a Baker (and as a Business)
Running a home bakery means constantly learning not just how to bake better, but how to work smarter.
This year, I’m focusing on:
- Streamlining systems behind the scenes
- Improving my decorating speed (still chasing the perfect buttercream swoop!)
- Investing in better tools when it makes sense
- Finding ways to make the business side feel less like admin and more like creativity
If you also got new baking tools for the holidays and want to dive deeper into learning, stay tuned - I’ll be sharing tips, cookbook recommendations, and behind-the-scenes peeks all year long.
4. Share More Value, Not Just More Desserts
One thing I heard again and again last year was how much you all love seeing how things are made, not just the final product.
So this year I want to share:
- Baking tips
- Tutorials
- Behind-the-scenes videos
- Favorite recipes
- My go-to tools + how to use them
- Local stories and small business shoutouts
Think of this blog (and my Instagram) as a sweet little corner of the internet where Hutto bakers (beginners or seasoned pros) can learn, laugh, and get inspired.
5. Make Space for Creativity
This one’s for me. Running a business sometimes squeezes out the joy of creativity, and I don’t want that to happen. In 2026, I’m making space for:
- New flavors
- Fun designs
- “Just because” bakes
- Personal projects that stretch my skills
Because when I bake with joy, the desserts taste better. Always.
A Sweet Start to 2026
Thank you for being here, for supporting this little home bakery, for trusting me with your celebrations, and for helping me grow year after year. I’m so excited to bake for you in 2026 and to keep becoming a bigger part of the Hutto community!
