If you’ve loved what we’ve been baking so far, get ready, because starting September 1, 2025, the Texas Cottage Food Law is expanding in a big way. These changes don’t just affect us as bakers; they open up a whole new world of treats for you.
Here’s what’s changing (and how it benefits you):
- More menu options than ever before. Right now, we can’t sell anything that needs refrigeration. That means no cheesecakes, cream pies, banana pudding, or tres leches cake. But after September 1, those doors swing wide open! We're working on getting these added so soon you’ll be able to order all of those (and more!) from us. Yes, we’re already testing recipes.
- Bigger capacity means fewer sold-out days. The sales cap for home bakeries is jumping from $50,000 to $150,000 a year. That means we can take on more orders and more customers without having to tell you “sorry, we’re full” as often.
- Privacy and convenience for deliveries. We’ll be able to register with the state so our home address isn’t printed on every label — just a unique ID. This means we can safely deliver and ship certain items without plastering our address everywhere, making it easier to serve you faster and in more ways.
- Wholesale for non-refrigerated goodies. For the first time, we can partner with local coffee shops, markets, and other small businesses so you can grab our cookies and breads around town, not just from us directly. That means more places to find our treats when you’re out and about! Look out for lots more small business partnerships headed your way soon!
- Seasonal & event flexibility. With wholesale and expanded product allowances, we can create more seasonal bundles, party platters, and catering menus for weddings, showers, and office events.
What this means for you: You’ll see a bigger menu, easier ways to get your favorites, and fun new collabs with other local Hutto, Round Rock, and Pflugerville spots. Think: grabbing your morning coffee and our coffee cake at the same place. Or picking up one of our pumpkin pies at the local market in the fall.
We’re ready, and we hope you are, too!
